Crathes CastleCrathes Castle is a three mile drive from Banchory town centre. It is also possible to walk to the castle which sits on land which was given as a gift to the Burnett of Leys family by King Robert the Bruce. Fine furniture and beautifully painted ceilings can be viewed inside and the old tower house is deemed to be one of the finest specimens of Scottish baronial architecture.
At Crathes Castle you will also find a 'Taste of Grampian' restaurant, gift shop, adventure playground for children, and the north-east’s only Go Ape tree top adventure course! The gardens are filled with a very varied collection of plants, including rare trees and shrubs, and are amongst the very best in Scotland. Further exploring can be done around the estate on the many marked woodland walks. |
